The highly anticipated “Gatsby, The Beautiful” in 3D by Baz Luhrmann with Leonardo DiCaprio in the title role, Tobey Maguire, Carey Mulligan and Joel Edgerton, was released in the U.S. on Friday. Five days later, on Wednesday night, the blockbuster $ 150 million will be screened at the opening of the 66th Cannes Film Festival, while spectators will discover in the halls from 14 hours.
“Gatsby”, the famous novel by Francis S. Fitzgerald, has fascinated generations of filmmakers, from the silent era to the adaptation made in 1974 by Jack Clayton, starring Robert Redford and Mia Farrow in the lead roles. Australian Baz Luhrmann, director of “Romeo + Juliet” with Di Caprio (1996), but also of “Moulin Rouge” (2001) and “Australia” (2008), both with Nicole Kidman, decided ago two years to deal with this remake.
